Hilarious Standup Comedians Entertain Singles at
SavvyInsider.com
Groundbreaking media & entertainment website for singles changes
perceptions about single life.
January 10, 2005
A new media and entertainment company devoted to the lifestyle of
today’s savvy singles, wrapped up its first month of Comedy
Standup, an original online comedy venue featuring the country’s
hottest standup comedians.
Comedy Standup is just one of the ways that SavvyInsider.com changes
perspectives of what people think about singles websites.
Recognizing that single life is multi-faceted, SavvyInsider.com
enriches its social network with a dose of laughter.
Since comedy clubs are popular with singles who frequent them,
whether on a date or with a group of friends, SavvyInsider’s
Comedy Standup offers a glimpse of new comics, letting viewers know
where they are performing live at traditional comedy clubs around
the country. For busy singles stressing out at work, Comedy Standup
provides an enjoyable break in a long work day.
Jimmy Shubert headlined the launch of Comedy Standup. It was Jimmy's
scene-stealing performance as the lollipop-sucking strip club
bouncer in Columbia Pictures' Go, directed by Swingers’ Doug Liman,
that jumpstarted his film career. Since, he has landed roles in the
films Coyote Ugly and One Hour Photo, starring Robin Williams. He
can also be seen in The Italian Job starring Charlize Theron, Ed
Norton, and Mark Walhberg. Jimmy’s numerous television appearances
include ER, King of Queens, Rude Awakenings and Lucky. Jimmy, of
course, wants more -- namely, a regular sitcom part, a Comedy
Central comedy special, and a lead role in an Indie film.
Flip Schultz followed with his raucous appearance on Loco Comedy
Jam. Flip has written many short plays, a musical, The Brooklyn
Knight, and has sold a script, which he and another comedian wrote,
that was made into a short film called Paper. Most recently, Flip
wrote a film called Mr. Right Before that was one of 250 scripts to
make it into the second round of competition in HBO's Project
Greenlight.
Dwayne Perkins begins January’s line-up with even more comedic
heat as Comedy Standup begins its second month. With appearances on
Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Late Late Show, and Premium
Blend, Dwayne has earned a spot in today's class of elite Stand-up
Comics. The recent culmination of Dwayne's talent and work has
resulted in his very own Comedy Central Presents half hour special.
Dwayne now sets his sights on acting and writing. Look for Dwayne in
the HBO movie The Gristle, with a memorable cameo as the lost
"stereotype" in the bar scene. Dwayne's comedy instincts
and acting skill also shine in the soon to be released independent
film Target Audience 9.1. In a movie rich with talent, Dwayne offers
comic relief as the funny likeable geek.
A new comedian is featured each week, and viewers can repeatedly
watch previous comics simply by clicking their name in the “On
Stage” column.
Comedy Standup can be viewed in Windows Media Player. For those with
other video players, simply go and download the free program.
