Combatting Homelessness Through the Arts
On February 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Mary Lou Newmark will present her
latest work, “Street Angel Diaries: A Multimedia Work about the
Homeless” at the Leo Baeck Temple,1300 N Sepulveda Blvd., Los
Angeles, CA.
(PRWEB) February 10, 2005 -- An important social action cause comes
to life through the arts. This interactive experience on
homelessness awareness includes original live and recorded music,
poetry, first hand accounts, soundscapes, storytellers, paintings by
Robert M. Fisher, photos by Gary F. Clark, multimedia artwork ,
dance choreography by Alesia Young and percussion by John T. Coker.
Composer-electric violinist Mary Lou Newmark will involve members of
the community in the event. Admission: $10 members, $15 general
public. Proceeds will support projects to combat homelessness.

Mary Lou Newmark, award-winning violinist, composer, and poet, has a
traditional classical background, with Master’s degrees in violin
performance and music composition from USC and UCLA, respectively.
Her works encompass a wide range of styles and techniques,
incorporating live performance, original poetry and electronically
generated sounds into unique pieces that inhabit their own sound
world. Her music has been performed at international music festivals
and featured on public radio stations throughout the world. In her
role as music educator, she is a member of the performing arts
faculty at Windward School in Los Angeles.
