Barclay Butera Debuts Annual ‘Independent Party’ at the
Sundance Film Festival; Egyptian Theatre Co. is ’05 Beneficiary
and Co-Sponsors Include New Independent Film Website indieIN.com
January 13, 2005
Renowned Hollywood interior designer and retailer Barclay Butera,
ASID - whose clients include Sharon Stone, Chris O’Donnell, and
Renee Zellwegger - and who owns a showroom and home in Park City, is
proud to launch an annual event during – but independent from -
the Sundance Film Festival. Dubbed The Independent Party, it is a
‘thank you’ to the residents of the area for their patronage as
well as an alternative party for Sundance attendees. This benefit is
presented by The Barclay Butera Foundation, established to benefit a
variety of community-based philanthropies. The event is Sat.,
January 22, 7-10pm at the Barclay Butera showroom, 255 Heber Ave.
(across from the Sundance Main Ticketing Center) in Park City.
(RSVP: 323-932-0800/outside of UT, 435-649-9371/UT.) (www.barclaybutera.com)
This inaugural year’s beneficiary is the Egyptian Theatre Company
(ETC). The Egyptian Theatre, named so in 1926 for its new exotic
Egyptian décor (very popular at the time), has featured films and
live theatre ever since and continues to be a regular Sundance Film
Festival venue.
“I believe it is important for businesses to give back to their
communities,” says Butera. “I enjoy Park City, its people and
its arts scene throughout the year. And my hope is that by hosting
this event during Sundance, the exposure for ETC will, of course, be
wonderful locally, but will increase the out-of-town awareness for
the theatre.”
The party’s co-sponsor is artist/actor Aaron Foster. His New York
Times-acclaimed folk art based on vintage license plates is carried
by Butera, who consistently discovers and promotes artists with a
certain edge and artistry that compliments his design vision. Foster
has appeared on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: The Home Edition” and
will host a soon-to-be-announced home design show.
Continuing the ‘independent’ theme, Mr. Butera invited
indieIN.com to participate. indieIN.com is a new online marketing
strategy destined to change the face of the independent film
industry by increasing the audience for independent film through
awareness, community building and strategic partnerships. The site
will increase the accessibility to independent films playing around
the country by providing effective and affordable marketing and
advertising for filmmakers and distributors; building a community of
filmmakers and filmgoers eager to connect with others; and obtaining
invaluable market research about who, why and where people go to see
independent films. indieIN.com launches this month and computers
will be on-hand at the party to peruse the site. (For more

Finally, Modern Luxury’s Angeleno and Absolut Vodka are proud
co-sponsors.
Barclay Butera, Inc. (BBI), Butera’s 12-year old corporation, is
based in Newport Beach, CA, and entails the Barclay Butera
retail/to-the-trade showrooms in Newport Beach and Los Angeles, CA,
and Park City, UT. Barclay Butera Home, Inc. (BBH) is home to both
the Barclay Butera Home line which is distributed in over 300
retailers nationwide, and to Barclay Butera Home wholesale
showrooms. Butera designs and manufactures his products in Los
Angeles, CA.
